Quebec City Weekend Preview

Québec City Weekend Preview

The 3ICE playoff race hits Québec City as they head up north for the second time this season. With just two weeks left of the regular season, expect another level of competition and intensity on the ice from all six teams on Saturday afternoon at Videotron Center.

Team Trottier is coming off their championship win in Pittsburgh with eagerness to do it again this weekend in hopes of moving up to the top spot in the standings. Right now, Team Mullen holds the first-place honors with Team Trottier just six points behind them. The time is running out to earn a spot in the playoffs, so every point that is on the line in Québec City is influential to the standings.

For the second consecutive weekend, Brandon Hawkins of Team LeClair is the top scorer in 3ICE and will wear the Golden Helmet in Québec City. Joe Whitney and Kevin Fitzgerald of Team Mullen, and Hawkins are the only players who have worn the Golden Helmet this season and all remain in the top three for goals scored. Not too far behind in the race for the Golden Helmet are Jack Combs (Team LeClair), Peter Lenes (Team Fuhr), Tyler Murovich (Team Mullen), and Chad Costello (Team Trottier). Whoever is wearing the Golden Helmet at season’s end will take home a significant cash prize, so will this spark players to find the back of the net in the next two weeks of play to take home that pot of gold?

Team Fuhr will meet Team LeClair at center ice for the first game of the afternoon. Next up, Team Carbonneau will take on Team Trottier, the reigning champions, in Game 2. For Game 3, Team Murphy will battle first-place Team Mullen.

Will Team Fuhr snap their losing streak and defeat Team LeClair to advance to the semifinals in hopes of securing their first championship win of the season? Will Team Trottier build off their win in Pittsburgh to find the victory over Team Carbonneau in the battle of the champions? Will Team Mullen get back to their winning ways and knock out Team Murphy, who fell just short in the championship last weekend?

The standings are constantly changing. Every shot matters, every pass matters, and with that in mind, the players look to give it their all every time they step foot on the ice in Québec City. So, stay tuned to see if a new team will be on top heading into the final regular season trip to Nashville after six action-packed games in Week 7.
