Pierre Turgeon enters his first season as coach of 3ICE Buffalo. The recent Hockey Hall of Fame inductee (2023) appeared in 1,294 NHL games during his 19-year NHL career, before retiring in 2007. After being selected #1 overall by Buffalo in 1987 NHL Entry Draft and playing five seasons for the Sabres, Turgeon would make career stops in New York (Islanders), Montreal, St. Louis, Dallas and Colorado. Upon joining Colorado as a free agent in 2005,
he switched his long-time jersey number from #77 to #88 because #77 had been retired by the Avalanche...in the name of fellow 3ICE coach Ray Bourque. On November 8, 2005 as a member of Colorado, he became the 34th player in history to score 500 career goals. He finished his career with 515 to go with 1,327 career points and was named an NHL All-Star on five occasions.
