It’s Finally Here!
June 18th is the day we’ve all been waiting for. The coaches are named, the teams are set, and the puck is ready to drop in Las Vegas at New Orleans Arena at 6PM ET on Saturday for Week 1 of 3ICE.
The players are eager to hit the ice in Vegas for the inaugural 3-on-3 games between all six teams. For Patrick Mullen, his last season playing hockey was at the start of the pandemic so he can’t wait to lace up his skates again (this time with 3ICE).
“Our season just got wiped out from us and you never got that final game that you knew of,” Patrick Mullen said. “I think it's really cool just to get going again and being on a team. Tryouts were awesome and I think it's just going to get better and better as we go along. So, it's going to be a great time.”
Playing with and against some guys that Mullen knows adds to the competitive atmosphere and brings an extra boost of energy to the ice.
“It’s obviously great to have my dad on the same team as I am,” Patrick Mullen said. “One of my buddies from college, Brock Trottier, is going to be on our team too, so it's going to be awesome.”
Patrick will take the ice for the first time with Team Mullen in Game 2 against Team Murphy during this weekend’s opening matchups. Team Trottier and Team Fuhr will faceoff for Game 1, and Team Carbonneau and Team LeClair will also battle for a spot in the semifinals in Game 3.
Now there’s a first time for everything and this weekend is 3ICE’s time to shine. It’s been a long time coming and the time is finally here. It all started to become real for Joe Mullen during training camp and the draft, but this weekend is going to be the icing on the cake.
“Once we got to training camp, things started to unfold and the guys started to get on the ice, you could see it all starting to come together,” Joe Mullen said. “We had the whole production company there so working with them and seeing how it was going to fit together was pretty cool. I get more and more excited now that it's finally going to start.”
The players, coaches, and the behind-the-scenes 3ICE crew are all filled with a lot of different emotions as Saturday gets closer. While Coach Mullen is a little nervous heading into Saturday, his excitement outweighs the nerves to finally see it all unfold in front of him.
“To get the kids together and see what we really have for a team is going to be great,” Joe Mullen said. “I’m pretty sure we have a pretty good team, so I'm pretty excited about that. I think all six teams are going to be very good and very competitive, so you get a little nervous because if you're not right on your game, you could be knocked out right away and I don’t want that.”
See you at 6PM for the opening faceoff and get ready to be on the edge of your seats for non-stop exciting hockey!
