Nerves turned into excitement for Kevin Fitzgerald this past weekend in Denver after all the fun he had in Las Vegas. He was excited to hit the ice at Magness Arena and do it all again with Team Mullen, and they did just that.
“I was actually really nervous before the first game in Las Vegas because it was just so new,” Fitzgerald said. “I had never played a full 3-on-3 game before. I think when you play on a new team or in a new five-on-five league, it's something you've done your whole life. But no one’s ever done this before, so I was definitely really nervous.”
The excitement surrounding Team Mullen pushed them to victory again, especially for #28 who had a blast winning the 3ICE championship for the second weekend in a row and this time around, being named the 3ICE Golden Helmet Goal Scoring Leader.
“I've been to Denver a couple of times when I was in college playing with St. Cloud State, so it was a lot of fun to be back,” Fitzgerald said. “It's a great spot, especially with the Stanley Cup Playoffs going on and all the buzz around the city. On the ice, it was really fun, and I think the 3-on-3 format in general is just so much fun. Then off the ice, it’s just a great group of guys so that was really great as well.”
Looking ahead to the rest of the season, Fitzgerald is excited to just keep playing week after week and competing for the Patty Cup with Team Mullen, while traveling to all the different cities.
“Whether it's Grand Rapids, Hershey, Pittsburgh, or Nashville, I think there are some great cities and I think it's going to be a blast,” Fitzgerald said. “Honestly, it's Monday right now, but I'm really looking forward to Saturday.”
