In the eyes of Head Coach Bryan Trottier, his team has played very well and hard throughout the first three weeks of the 3ICE season. After week one in Las Vegas, he told his team that all they needed to do was get more pucks on the net to give them an opportunity to win, and this weekend they were rewarded for doing so.
“Every shot is a chance, and every chance is an opportunity to win,” Trottier said. “We were passing too much while trying not to be too selfish. You have to want to score, and we needed goals, goals, goals. I think that came out of week one and then week two, we played outstanding in the finals. This week, we ended up in the finals game again and won.”
Team Trottier came out on top in Grand Rapids and their head coach couldn’t have been more excited for them. Team Blue has been playing their hearts out since the very beginning which made the victory extremely rewarding for them and their head coach.
“All the guys are doing all the right things,” Trottier said. “They're playing hard for each other, they're working hard for each other, and they're being the good selfish. They are getting rewarded for it and that's the best thing. Everybody wants to contribute, and they come hungry.”
Trottier acknowledged that Team Blue won by committee as all his players contributed on both sides of the puck. Every big goal, play, or save didn’t go unnoticed on the bench which gave every player a confidence boost heading into each game and ultimately resulted in the championship win.
“Parker Milner was extremely good in net, while Bobby Farnham was everywhere doing everything,” Trottier said. “Sean Dhooghe scored a bunch, in addition to Chad Costello who was as creative as he was a sniper. Jake Newton scored and was a horse on defense. Cam Brown inch on ice and brought speed and energy.”
“Everybody's just taking all their attributes and bringing them to this league and shining,” Trottier said. “I’m happy for them and proud of their effort and togetherness.”
